Our Story
Jacob and Ashleigh Pinkerton • Denver, Colorado
Jacob and Ashleigh Pinkerton founded the company in 2017 — originally as Pinkerton Collective, LLC in Tucson, Arizona — with a simple goal: keep used books out of landfills and give great stories a second chance.
After moving to Colorado Springs and a year and a half spent consulting for another book business, they relaunched as Aspen Book Company in Denver in August 2024.
Today, we purchase used books in bulk and bring them to our processing center in Denver, where our team carefully reviews every item — sometimes 30,000 in a single week! The best books are listed for sale, damaged inventory is recycled, and bulk books are passed along to other retailers.
